Nintendo E3 2019 Summary: All Confirmed Games and No New Switch

nintendo e3 2019 all games new switch

Nintendo’s E3 2019 Direct Presentation ended, it was filled with new game announcements, as well as new trailers for games that Nintendo has in the works for the next year. The biggest surprising coming out of Nintendo’s E3 2019 is the reveal that a Breath of the Wild sequel is in development. However, the bad news, Animal Crossing on the Switch is delayed and there is No debut for New Switch console.

Nintendo E3 2019 All Games

Animal Crossing: New Horizons

First, the bad news: after originally being slated for a 2019 release, Animal Crossing on the Switch has been pushed back to March 20th, 2020. The good news? The game, dubbed New Horizons, looks great, with a new setup that tasks players with building up a community on a deserted island.

The game is set on a desert island, where Nook, Inc. has given certain citizens a getaway package to set up their dream living arrangements. The game will allow you to craft on Nook’s workbench, chop down trees, grow plants, make your own pathways and snowmen, and everything else you can imagine from Animal Crossing — such as owing Nook money.

Instead of managing an entire town, you’ll be making camp on a tropical island, decorating your tent and making a home for yourself. You’ll also experience changing seasons, as it seems that snow can fall on this island – perfect for building snowmen. You can also craft new items using Tom Nook’s workbench, and of course you’ll be paying bells out the nose to Nook for the cost of airfare and accomodations for your island getaway. It looks like multiplayer may also be a factor, with other characters grouping up at the end of the trailer.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2

Nintendo made us exciting, they teased that a “full” sequel of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is in the works. Though no release date, title, or further details, it’s still the most shocking announcement in 2019 Nintendo E3.

It looks like the Breath of the Wild sequel will pick up right where the first game left off, as Link and Zelda explore some creepy subterranean ruins that seemed to be corrupted by the Malice brought about by Calamity Ganon.

It looks to maintain the locations and art style of the original game, and in the sneak preview, we see swirly green energy that eventually sprouts an enormous mountain in the middle of Hyrule.

It appears that Zelda herself will play more of a role this time around, as she accompanies Link when he discovers a demonic-looking monster at the bottom of a valley.

The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening

Nintendo announced that Link’s Awakening will launch on September 20. During the presentation, Nintendo also took the time to show off its The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening.

The game continues to impress with its modernized art style, and its snappy combat looks like a welcome return to the classic era of Zelda games from the early ’90s. You will be able to collect different chambers during your adventure that can then be customized into your own creative dungeons, and by completing these, you can earn rewards.

A new mode is add, that is a dungeon-creator that looks and sounds pretty excellent. As its name suggests, the mode allows players to create their own, custom-made dungeons by placing chambers earned in the adventure mode. Once created, players can explore the dungeons. Conquering the various chambers will yield various rewards, Nintendo said.

Pokemon Sword & Shield

Pokémon Sword and Shield on the Switch will be compatible with the Poke Ball Plus. The Poke Ball Plus is the Poke Ball-shaped controller that released alongside last year’s Pokemon games, Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee.

As we learned during the Direct, you’ll be able to send some of your Pokemon from Sword and Shield to the Poke Ball Plus and take them with you on walks, just as you could in Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee. Nintendo teases that something good may happen if you bring your Pokemon with you. However, it doesn’t appear you’ll be able to use the Poke Ball Plus as a controller for Sword and Shield.

In short, the pokéball won’t serve as a controller like in Let’s Go, but you can use it to take critters out of the game and into the real world, which, in turn, will earn you various bonuses.

Nintendo also showed off some new snippets of a battle against Water Gym Leader, Nessa.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

There are 2 new characters announced in the Direct for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC. The Hero from multiple Dragon Quest games is coming this summer, and Banjo-Kazooie make their big debut this fall.

This summer, to celebrate the release of Dragon Quest 11: Echoes of an Elusive Age — Definitive Edition S, “The Hero” from the Dragon Quest series will be playable. He or she will make use of a sword and shield, as well as magical abilities, and they will have access to a menu similar to turn-based role-playing games.

Banjo-Kazooie will be coming to the game as well. Banjo-Kazooie is a franchise owned by Rare, a subsidiary of Microsoft, and the move seems to signify the closer relationship shared by Microsoft and Nintendo recently.

Luigi’s Mansion 3

No exact release date, but we know Luigi’s Mansion 3 for Switch is coming sometime in 2019. The gameplay is fully revealed during the Nintendo 2019 E3 presentation.

The game finds Luigi, Mario, Peach, and Toad headed to a gorgeous hotel for a getaway, but they soon discover it is much more nefarious than it appears. Ghosts roam the halls, and Luigi must make use of his Poltergust G-00 to eliminate them. He has access to new abilities like a slam and a suction shot to help him in his mission, and a “burst” that knocks ghosts away.

Luigi is joined by a jiggly alter-ego called “Gooigi” to assist with certain puzzles, and if you want to play the game cooperatively, one player can control each character. There is also an eight-player mode called ScareScraper that has eight players searching for Toads.

Fire Emblem: Three Houses

Nintendo showed off a new trailer for Fire Emblem: Three Houses, which takes a Harry Potter approach to Fire Emblem’s tactical role-playing, choice-driven narrative formula. You play as Byleth (either male or female), a teacher at the Officer’s Academy.

The academy is divided into three houses, each led by a powerful individual who hails from one of the three nations that make up the continent of Fódlan. Edelgard is the princess of the Adrestian Empire, Dimitri is the prince of the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus, and Claude is the heir to the leading house of the Leicester Alliance.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order is just over a month away, in the latest E3 trailer, we see a bunch of Marvel heroes and villains that will be featured in the game, including Hela, Surtur, Magneto (who somehow gets his hands on the Reality Infinity Stone), Miles Morales, Doctor Octopus, Ghost Rider, Elektra, Kamala Khan, Gwen Stacey, Thor, Scarlet Witch, the Guardians of the Galaxy, and the Avengers.

The trailer also showcases The Black Order’s main antagonist, Thanos, will be rocking his original comic book look in the game. We know from that The Black Order will launch with an expansion pass that adds additional playable characters to the game. With the pass, you’ll gain access to characters from the Marvel Knights, X-Men, and Fantastic Four.

Fans of the two previous games should find themselves right at home when it launches on July 19.

Mario And Sonic At The Olympic Games

The new Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games will celebrate the 2020 Games in Tokyo, Japan. Mario and Sonic will be joined by friends from their respective universes, and they’ll compete in sports such as surfing, skateboarding, sprinting, climbing, boxing, horse racing, swimming, fencing, soccer, baseball, hurdles, long jump, basketball, shot put, volleyball, BMX, and gymnastics.

Publisher Sega previously stated the game would arrive in the winter, and Nintendo has now announced it will exclusively appear on the Nintendo Switch this November.

featuring a mix of new and classic sporting events including surfing, skateboarding, karate, rock climbing, fencing, soccer, gymnastics, and many more, is launching in November 2019, complete with online multiplayer.

THE DARK CRYSTAL: AGE OF RESISTANCE TACTICS

By far the most bizarre and unexpected game shown during the Nintendo Direct event, The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics takes the cult-hit Jim Henson film’s Netflix television series spinoff and turns it into a tactical role-playing game. The basic gameplay loop looks similar to Fire Emblem — which also got a brief cinematic trailer during the E3 presentation — but with the classic fantastical and creative character designs we saw in the original film.

Nintendo E3 2019 New Switch

Before the E3 conference, Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa said that a new Switch won’t make a debut at E3, though he didn’t rule out its existence entirely, either. So in the 2019 E3 Nintendo Direct, we get no News about it. It’s still not sure whether or not there will be a New Switch console in this year. But rumors are spread on the Internet.

“Before diving into games, reports form earlier in 2019 indicated Nintendo could reveal a cheaper Nintendo Switch “Lite” at E3. At the time, analysts told Inverse that they expected a new primarily handheld model with non-detachable Joy Cons and the ability to cast games either with a cable or wirelessly. But since the report, this announcement has appeared increasingly unlikely.”
